Programming babies: YouTube censors conservative political causes, but allows traumatizing content for kids

YouTube can be a scary place sometimes – especially if you’re a toddler watching creepy animated characters dance to bizarre songs on YouTube Kids.

The world’s most popular video sharing website claims that YouTube Kids provides funny and educational content for young people, but in reality, many of these cartoons include rather disturbing content that is presented to children in a repetitive cheery tone.

In one video, for example, a young girl with green pigtails and a smile that resembles that of the Joker is seen dancing with a baby and another toddler, both of which also have green hair. The video, which goes on for a full 30 minutes, continues to become more and more bizarre, at one point even featuring the incredible hulk beating down a horned monster armed with a spiked club. The entire episode is so strange and disturbing that it becomes difficult to believe it was created for children and not older teenagers who enjoy viewing unsettling content on the Internet.

In another video, which is only three minutes long, animated balloons with faces on them are popped one by one, and transform into green, yellow, red, blue and pink kittens. The kittens then become attached to the fingertips of an animated talking hand, which sings and dances until the end of the episode. It honestly looks as though it was created by someone who was high on psychedelic drugs, and the fact that YouTube thinks this video and others like it are appropriate for young children is utterly shocking.

The truth is that YouTube simply doesn’t have its priorities straightened out. While the video sharing site evidently feels that it’s necessary and appropriate to expose young children to violent, creepy and highly disturbing content, it simultaneously seeks to ban content from conservative users that is educational and informative.

In August, The Daily Caller published an article detailing the frustration of various conservative and independent content creators after YouTube began demonetizing videos that it deemed too controversial. (Related: YouTube has terminated the indy news site Activist Post for a fake reason and without warning.)

One such conservative content creator who was affected by YouTube’s censorship campaign is journalist Lauren Southern, who told The Daily Caller this past summer that she believes there is an attempt to silence politically divergent voices. “I think it would be insane to suggest there’s not an active effort to censor conservative and independent views,” she explained. “Considering most of Silicon Valley participate in the censorship of alleged ‘hate speech,’ diversity hiring and inclusivity committees. Their entire model is based around a far left outline. There’s no merit hiring, there’s no support of free speech and there certainly is not an equal representation of political views at these companies.”

Another journalist who has claimed that his political YouTube videos were targeted for censorship is Independent activist Luke Rudkowski, who told The Daily Caller that 660 of his videos were demonetized in a single day. Rudkowski said that he believes the demonetization was “done on purpose” and that because the videos that were targeted were some of his most popular, YouTube has “eviscerated my income.” (Related: Read about why YouTube, as well as various other sites, must be regulated to halt politically motivated censorship.)

“After dealing with all the repeated issues with YouTube it is clear that this is a campaign to de-incentivize any critical thinkers and anti authoritarians from their platform,” he said.

In other words, while YouTube is exposing young children to disturbing and inappropriate content in the form of creepy cartoons, it is also engaged in a campaign to silence those who produce educational and informative political content. The YouTube team had better get their priorities straightened out soon, or else more and more people are going to wake up to their ridiculous and nonsensical behavior.
