Kids are born to hate vegetables, says research
by Mike Adams, NaturalNews Editor
Can't get your kids to eat vegetables? Evolution has something to do with it, says new research. But that doesn't mean you have to give in to disease-causing products like soft drinks, candy, cookies and white bread. Feed your child whole grains, or use stevia as a sweetener instead of sugar. Kids don't have to chow down on vegetables to be healthy, but they do have to avoid high-fructose corn syrup and other ingredients that promote obesity and diabetes.
- Kids may have a really good reason for not wanting to eat vegetables:
Thousands of years of evolution.
- After studying 564 mothers with young children, scientists from Cancer
Research UK have concluded that kids' pickiness about food is an
evolutionary trait.
- "Plant toxins can be very dangerous to children, as could the effects
of food poisoning from unrefrigerated meat," says Lucy Cooke of Cancer
Research UK's Health Behaviour Unit at University College London.
- Rather than justify children's poor eating habits, the study provides
insight into improving them, says Cooke.
- It's believed that up to one-third of cancers can be prevented through
diet, and increasing consumption of fruits and vegetables is a key goal
of cancer organizations.
