-
Montgomery County will join a growing number of state and local
jurisdictions across the country that are considering looking to Canada
for better prices on the prescription drugs they buy for public
employees.
- County Council member Tom Perez (D-Silver Spring) said he will
introduce such legislation this week, which could make the county only
the third jurisdiction in the nation to allow employees to purchase
medication in Canada.
- A report by the Congressional Budget Office concluded that legalizing
importation of drugs from Canada and Europe could cut drug spending by
$40 billion over the next decade, including $4.5 billion in savings for
the federal government.
