CNN, NBC and New York Times want to destroy encrypted messaging apps like Signal and Telegram
By Ethan Huff // Jan 20, 2021

The false flag "insurrection" that took place at the United States Capitol on Jan. 6 is being used by the mainstream media as a catch-all excuse to demand that all competing platforms of communication be banned for the "safety" and "security" of the country.

After successfully lobbying to get Parler, a free speech alternative to Twitter, banned from both major smartphone app stores, the left-wing media is now going after Signal and Telegram, two encrypted messaging apps that keep private text conversations hidden from prying eyes.

The New York Times published a propaganda piece the other day that is dripping with fear-mongering over how these two apps might be used by "insurrectionists" to stage more "sieges" against government buildings where politicians are known to make appearances.

The Times warns against Proud Boys founder Gavin McInnes, who recently announced his return to Telegram. Elon Musk of Tesla fame also publicly encouraged his Twitter followers and others to "[u]se Signal."

Switching to these alternative platforms means less traffic and revenue for Twitter and Facebook, not to mention more unfavorable opinions about legacy media operations like the Times that rely on Big Tech platforms to steer social media users away from independent media outlets.

Big Propaganda, as you might call it, depends upon a total media monopoly in order to survive. And platforms like Signal and Telegram threaten that monopoly, which is why they are being vilified as a "danger" to "democracy."

The more people use "alternative" tech, the weaker Big Tech gets

Using rhetoric like "growing anxiety," "anger," and "fear" to describe the emotions and mindset of those who choose to use these platforms, the Times makes the implication that people who are calm, happy and normal use the "normal" platforms like Twitter and Facebook.

It is a psychological assault on the reader that for some will deter them from even attempting to download Signal and Telegram because only people on the "fringe" of society would ever do that kind of thing – at least that used to be the case.

The Times laments that "normal" people like moms and dads are starting to migrate, which is clearly a threat to the establishment propaganda outlets that demand their full and undivided attention.

"The result was a mass migration that, if it lasts, could weaken the power of Facebook and other big tech companies," the Times says about growing public distrust of WhatsApp, another tech giant owned by Facebook that is used for messaging.

"On Tuesday, Telegram said it added more than 25 million users over the previous three days, pushing it to over 500 million users," the Times further explains. "Signal added nearly 1.3 million users on Monday alone, after averaging just 50,000 downloads a day last year, according to estimates from Apptopia, an app-data firm."

Besides the loss of revenue and control, Big Tech and the Times are also lamenting the fact that apps like Telegram and Signal are encrypted, meaning Big Surveillance does not have unfettered access to user data without a warrant.

That pesky Fourth Amendment can no longer be flagrantly violated by the Feds when people use Signal and Telegram rather than Twitter and Facebook, and this is upsetting to the deep state, which wants total control over the minds and activities of all people.

"Three events in the last 3 months have been major attacks on a free internet: FB & Twitter uniting to censor NY Post pre-election reporting on the Bidens (a shocking breach); the removal of POTUS from the internet; the monopolistic destruction of Parler. A huge interception," tweeted Glenn Greenwald, one of the co-founders of The Intercept.
