Doctors dismiss Aussie woman’s post-COVID vaccine issues as alcohol withdrawal symptoms

A woman in Australia's Queensland state suffered tremors and other neurological issues after getting two doses of the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine. However, doctors dismissed her post-vaccination reactions as the result of alcohol withdrawal.

Gold Coast resident Shannon Urquhart, 52, decided to get the COVID-19 vaccine because she wanted to travel to New South Wales (NSW) to visit her family. She had been unable to see her mother since 2019, and she was unable to attend her younger brother's funeral due to not getting the shots. Little did she know that despite her healthy living regimen, the COVID-19 shot required for her to travel would change her life for the worse.

She received her first dose of Moderna's COVID-19 vaccine on Oct. 12, 2021 and experienced serious reactions four days later. Urquhart experienced sensory overload, numbness in her legs and full-body muscle spasms. She visited her physician for treatment, who subsequently arranged for her to receive the Pfizer vaccine for her second dose.

Urquhart was injected with the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine on Nov. 16, 2021 and the serious reactions occurred on Dec. 7. She visited the hospital for medical assistance after experiencing chest pain and tremors. Doctors were careful and diligent in treating her for her medical issues until she mentioned receiving both the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines in the last two months.

At this point, medical professionals suddenly pulled a 180 on her. She remarked: "Their demeanor completely changed. They became very dismissive and rude, saying they would keep me in the hospital because I was having alcohol withdrawals." True enough, doctors wrote "alcohol withdrawal" on her discharge papers.

Urquhart had concussions in December 2021 and last month, and has been careful with her daily activities to avoid another fall. She now suffers from chronic brain fog and slurred speech, alongside a diagnosis of cerebral small vessel disease. While doctors referred her to a neurologist, she cannot afford to pay for treatment.

COVID-19 vaccines damaging Aussie women

Urquhart, a self-employed health and beauty therapist by trade, joins the many individuals in Australia that have experienced serious reactions after they were injected with the COVID-19 vaccine. The mRNA vaccine from the New York-based Pfizer is one of three COVID-19 shots authorized in the Land Down Under, alongside the mRNA shot from the Massachusetts-based Moderna and the adenoviral vector vaccine from AstraZeneca.

Thirty-seven-year-old Chantal Uren of the Western Australia Police Force got her first dose of the Pfizer vaccine after the state of Western Australia mandated COVID-19 vaccination for workers. Uren was healthy and fit prior to getting injected, but things went haywire for her after the vaccination. She experienced a stroke and a ruptured artery. "In August [2021], my employer announced that anyone who was not vaccinated would be treated differently by having to wear masks at all times in the workplace, excluded from buildings and moved out of their positions that they have worked for into office-type roles. I felt as though I didn't really have a choice. I was worried that I would be moved out of my position – which is seen as a privileged role," she wrote in an October 2021 Facebook post.

"I have had every test for every illness that they can test for with a negative result, and every nutrient level is perfect. So how does a healthy, fit 37-year-old have a stroke and ruptured artery to their brain only weeks after having the Pfizer vaccine? If the doctors don't think it's linked, then why would they book me in with a vaccine specialist?"

Since experiencing the adverse reactions, Uren has not pushed through with her second dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 shot.
