Turmeric isn’t just good for you – it is shockingly good for you!

Turmeric has been known to be a potent spice by ancient civilizations. Today, Western scientists are finally discovering what others have known for centuries.

The shock isn’t that turmeric is helpful and effective, it is the degree to which it is helpful and effective—in many cases more so than prescription drugs that produce horrific side effects.

If you get a pure and highly rated turmeric supplement, you can expect benefits as suggested in the research below.

A wonderful discovery about turmeric is that it is competitively effective with a class of steroid medications known as corticosteroids. Corticosteroids have a variety of uses such as managing a chronic inflammation of the eye. Turmeric was found, since the 1990’s, to be effective in treating this disease. The specific compound was identified and turned out to be a pigment in turmeric known are curcumin.

In another study, scientists found a favorable effectiveness with dexamethasone (which is a drug under the class of corticosteroids). This time, the case test was on the effectiveness of making sure the body does not reject a lung transplant.

These studies are important because they find a good use for natural turmeric where the body is already under severe stress and does not need the input of chemicals that would further harm it.

A German scientific journal was able to find that turmeric has properties that enable it to be an effective blood thinner. The trial was done comparing it to aspirin and the researchers found that there is a place for turmeric in the lives of patients who may require anti-arthritis therapy  or who are prone to vascular thrombosis. The anti-inflammatory effects of turmeric are useful in other medical applications as well.

A study in the journal Oncogene notes that the compound curcumin and resveratrol, found in turmeric, can be helpful in the fight against tumor cells by reducing their propensity to spread to other parts of the body and by also reducing their ability to inflame the local regions they occupy.

The research on turmeric has picked up in earnest and the benefits of this wonder spice do not seem to be coming to an end any time soon. Including turmeric in our diet, therefore, may be a good way to incorporate a natural preventative of many chronic and inflammatory diseases in our bodies.

Research has also shown turmeric slowing the spread of cancer in colorectal cells. It has also been found to have a positive result in diabetics by activating a natural mechanism in our bodies which restarts the process of glucose uptake.
