Fake news gatekeeper Chuck Todd defends CNN’s irresponsible and inaccurate reporting

It’s hard to believe that anyone could possibly defend CNN nowadays, considering the fact that the left wing fake news network has been caught lying about President Trump and his team countless times over the past several months. Most recently, CNN found itself wrapped up in a fairly significant scandal, whereby the network was forced to retract a false story alleging that Trump adviser Anthony Scaramucci had a connection to the Russian Direct Investment Fund. In addition to publicly admitting that the story “did not meet CNN’s editorial standards,” CNN also made the decision to fire three journalists, which at the very least is terrible for public relations and the network’s credibility. (RELATED: CNN credibility collapses under weight of fake news scandal… “no longer a news organization.”)

To most people, such a scandal would be indefensible – that is, of course, unless your name happens to be Chuck Todd.

On Wednesday, June 28, Chuck Todd took time out of his show MTP Daily to defend CNN and their reporting on the Trump administration. “I’m obsessed with the White House’s war on the press and on media,” Todd told his viewers. “Let’s be clear about this, that war is nothing less than a way on the truth. Do we get it right all the time? Nope, we don’t. And when we don’t, we run a correction, and in some cases, people lose their jobs. That’s what just happened at CNN. CNN took responsibility for its mistakes.”

There is something incredibly humorous about the idea that Donald Trump is engaged in a war on the truth, and not the mainstream media. President Trump is by no means perfect, but the only war on truth going on in this country is coming from the media, which routinely lies to the American people and spreads false anti-Trump propaganda across the airwaves. They are hellbent on taking down the President and his team, and they know that in order to accomplish that, they must misinform the public and manufacture phony scandals.

Furthermore, Chuck Todd’s assertion that CNN’s retracted story was only a “mistake” is highly unlikely. CNN, much like virtually every other left-wing network and publication in existence, seems to have adopted a strategy that says, “throw everything out there and see what sticks.” These CNN journalists most likely knew that the story was fake news all along, but the potential that it could do severe damage to the Trump administration was all the motivation they needed to go ahead and publish it anyway. Todd eventually concluded his monologue by refuting Trump’s claim that the mainstream media is the enemy of the people. “So no, Mr. President, no, White House press shop, the media is not the enemy of the people,” Todd said. “We’re just here to find, as Carl Bernstein put it so well, the best obtainable version of the truth. It can hurt you, it can hurt us and yes, even you, Mr. President.”

So according to Chuck Todd, the mainstream media really is a fair and balanced institution that just wants to get the truth out to the American people. If these “truths” happen to be damaging to Donald Trump, Todd argues, then so be it. The media makes mistakes at times, Todd says, but those are just mistakes and nothing more.

To put it bluntly, if you believe that this is really how the modern day mainstream media operates, then you are either extremely naïve or haven’t been paying attention. The media is desperate to remove President Trump from the Oval Office because, in their minds, Hillary Clinton was supposed to be the next president of the United States. She was “the chosen one,” so to speak, and when she lost back in November, the media launched an all out assault on Donald Trump, his administration, and his allies.
