The more justification I see for mostly black NFL players protesting the National Anthem before games, the angrier it makes me because frankly, the protesting is based on a big, fat lie.
There is no other way to put it. It’s a lie. Not a “half-truth.” Not a “misunderstanding.” Not a “miscalculation.”
A lie, period.
I’ll give you an example of what I’m talking about, because this sentiment is typical from those who are excusing the incredibly bad and tone-deaf behavior by players, coaches, and league officials who just don’t seem to care they’re shedding NFL fans by the minute as they continue to excuse disrespectful behavior that is, again, based on a lie.
Joe LaPointe, writing in the reliably Left-leaning New York Observer, naturally blamed the rise in protests (which began last year during Obama’s tenure) on President Donald J. Trump because, why not? Everything is political these days, and everything political is Trump’s fault.
“After Trump called black football players sons of bitches for kneeling in protest during the national anthem, the athletes of the National Football League and the National Basketball Association called a flagrant personal foul on the large, 71-year-old, orange-faced, yellow-haired chief executive.”
That’s Mr. President to you, LaPointe.
Anyway, there’s more. He goes on to note that mostly black players were outraged over Trump’s comments at a political rally in Alabama last Friday, in which he said: “Wouldn’t you love to see those NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, ‘Get that son of a bitch off the field right now!’ Out! He’s fired. Fired!” (Related: In our twisted “progressive” society, what takes real courage is STANDING for the national anthem… #BoycottNFL)
“Trump said he didn’t like players protesting during the anthem about deaths of young black people, usually men, in confrontations with armed police,” LaPointe lectured. Uh, Trump didn’t say that. Trump never even mentioned race. Only Trump’s liberal detractors are the ones who keep mentioning race.
LaPointe’s fact-less rant also included comments in his piece from other race-baiters including William Rhoden, a “journalist” for the sports version of MSNBC, ESPN.
“These racist police… are blowing people away, and nobody’s got convicted,” Rhoden said of the player protests. “That’s what this is about. And for you to get on national television and spout this garbage, it’s completely ridiculous, man. It’s without merit.”
No, what Rhoden is saying and what LaPointe is saying is without merit. Because it’s complete, utter BS.
First of all, the general assumption and presumption that all police are racist towards black people are not only factually incorrect, they outrageously insulting to the men and women who put on a uniform and put their lives on the line every day even for ungrateful, lying hacks. What’s more, the presumption that black men who are being shot and killed by police aren’t at all responsible for their own situations and eventual demise is ridiculous, and it’s time someone uttered that truth.
This assumption stems from the Michael Brown incident in Ferguson, Missouri — birthplace of Black Lives Matter and the phony, “Hands up, Don’t shoot,” narrative that never happened. Who says so? Obama’s Department of Justice, that’s who.
Brown was neither innocent nor was he running from the police when he was shot and killed, but that is where the narrative was born that guides the anthem protests today. Mr. Protest himself, former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick said so.
“To me, this is bigger than football, and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way,” Kaepernick said. “There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder.”
Really? Are you a lawyer now, Kaepernick? Because juries and courts of law have been finding officers innocent as charged — except when they are guilty. No police officers are getting “paid leave” for “murdering” black people. That’s just absurd.
Here’s the truth: 1) Cops don’t kill Americans in large, unacceptable numbers; 2) Of Americans killed by police, most are white; 3) Police officers almost always are not convicted for shooting whites, either; and 4) You don’t see white NFL players or white Americans protesting the anthem over two facts they could definitely use to do so.
Here’s one more truth. No matter what color our skin, the civil society would collapse within hours if the thin, blue line wasn’t on duty. And guess what? Among other things, there would be no more football.
Some big, fat, huge lies form the basis for the Alt-Left’s hijacking of the NFL and the overall politicization of sports in general in America. It’s disgusting, it’s pathetic, and it’s time these divisive frauds were called out for them. (Read LIES.news for more coverage of left-wing lies.)
