UNREAL: Twitter now censoring GIFs of the U.S. flag being planted on the moon… revisionist history run amok
By JD Heyes // Sep 03, 2018

In recent months we’ve been documenting the American Left’s war on our history, culture, and traditions through the use of threats, intimidation, and censorship. Now that effort has extended to one of the most iconic, truly American events of all time: NASA’ space program which, in the late 1960s – less than a decade after John F. Kennedy called for it – put men on the moon.

You may have heard that a new movie, “First Man,” is debuting this month. It’s film about that achievement, starring – ironically – Canadian actor Ryan Gosling as Astronaut Neil Armstrong, one of the first Americans on the moon.

Armstrong and his crew had three key objectives when they landed: Communicate back to Earth the success of the landing, ensure all systems were online and functioning, and place the American flag on the moon’s surface.

But because the insane Left has completely taken over what used to be a very patriotic Hollywood (circa before the 1960s), that iconic scene was cut out of the final version of First Man.

It gets worse, however: Twitter has now taken to censoring GIFs for the American flag being planted on the moon by Armstrong as well, in yet another bid by the Left-wing social media behemoths to trash our country.

As reported by The Gateway Pundit, a Twitter user named Clarence Swirly sent a tweet to legendary World War II flying ace and fighter test pilot Chuck Yeager, who at 93 is pretty active (and on Twitter), was critical of Gosling’s portrayal.

@GenChuckYeager Ryan Gosling is coming out with the movie First Man where it portrays Neil Armstrong as a liberal progressive anti Trump (in spirit) non-flag waiver. Probably agree with the National Anthem kneelers, too; at least in Hollywood's liberal imagination. For your Info,” Swirly wrote.

“That’s not the Neil Armstrong I knew,” Yeager responded.

The Left hates American symbolism, period

Swirly’s tweet and Yeager’s response started a string of additional responses and reactions, as is the nature of the Twitter platform. But at one point a user attempted to attach a GIF of the iconic moment when Armstrong planted the American flag on the moon’s surface – but the outrageous censors at Twitter marked it as “sensitive,” which meant users had to click to “Learn More.”

“That’s right, Twitter is now censoring the US flag,” The Gateway Pundit’s Brock Simmons wrote.

That has to be company policy – otherwise, the GIF would not have been singled out for censorship.

Needless to say, a user going by the handle “rps” alerted Yeager to the outrage.

“Or The Right Stuff. I wonder what @GenChuckYeager would say about leaving the planting of the American flag out of #FirstMan ?” the user wrote.

To which Yeager responded, “More Hollywood make-believe.”

The film’s director, French-America Damien Chazelle, defended cutting the scene where Armstrong planted Old Glory on the lunar surface.

“The flag being physically planted into the surface is one of several moments of the Apollo 11 lunar EVA that I chose not to focus upon,” he said. “To address the question of whether this was a political statement, the answer is no. My goal with this movie was to share with audiences the unseen, unknown aspects of America's mission to the moon — particularly Neil Armstrong's personal saga and what he may have been thinking and feeling during those famous few hours.”

Really? Would any film portrayal of the American Marines who fought and died on Iwo Jima be truly complete if directors and producers cut out the iconic planting of the American flag atop Mount Suribachi?

The Left hates America and her symbols. That’s why they ignore them as often as possible.
