Left-wing open borders law firm SPLC files claims on behalf of three illegal alien fathers, wants American taxpayers to “compensate” them for “lasting harm”
By JD Heyes // Sep 04, 2019

In the age of President Donald Trump, calling for border security as well as enforcing all immigration laws has become a racist, bigoted, ‘anti-American’ endeavor — so much so that now, one Left-wing law firm believes taxpayers should compensate illegal aliens for breaking and entering.

According to a recent press release from the Southern Poverty Law Center, the group has filed administrative claims on behalf of three illegal alien fathers after they were separated from their children while trying to sneak into the country.

In particular, three fathers want American taxpayers to compensate them for “the lasting harm” caused by the Trump administration’s family separation policy” — which is factually incorrect given that a) President Trump actually ended the policy; and b) it is a policy that stemmed from the Trump administration’s “zero tolerance” policy of prosecuting all illegal aliens and of provisions surrounding the “Flores Agreement,” which predates the current administration.

In any event, the last thing anyone who breaks into our country is entitled to is compensation — especially since the aliens themselves know they’re not allowed to enter the U.S. by sneaking in.

But the SPLC doesn’t care about the rule of law.

“Thousands of children, parents and entire families will suffer the rest of their lives as a result of this administration’s intentionally cruel family separations,” said Michelle Lapointe, senior supervising attorney at the SPLC, according to the press release. (Related: Left-wing hate group SPLC now being used by Amazon, Google, Facebook and Twitter to determine … “hate groups.”)

“The government separated families with a full understanding of the extent of the unspeakable impact this would have on the victims, including vulnerable children. It did so not in spite of the harm it would cause, but because of it, and now the government must be held accountable,” she continued. “This is particularly important as we continue to receive reports of unjustified and illegal separations of families at the border, well after the practice supposedly ended.”

What an abuse of American taxpayers this would be

To imply that the Trump administration purposely sought to harm illegal aliens is a leap at best and an absolute falsehood at worst that requires the ability to read minds. But beyond that, again, if there is any premeditation here it is on the part of the illegal alien, not the Trump administration; no one was twisting migrant arms and forcing them to illegally cross into the United States.

One thing that the SPLC does get right is the intent behind family separation policy, which — by the way — was used during the Clinton, Bush, and Obama administrations: Deterrence.

“As has been well-documented,” the press release states, “the intent of the family separations was to deter future migrants by deliberately subjecting immigrants in custody to harsh conditions that would ensure their suffering.”

Well, okay, the SPLC is partially correct; the part about deliberately harming migrants is false, and anyone who has toured a detention facility knows that migrants are well taken care of.

But yes, the policy was always intended to be a deterrent. And why not? What’s the purpose of having borders if you can’t find some way to protect them? And really, aren’t all laws requiring punishment of some sort designed, in large part, to be deterrents?

The SPLC goes on to claim that the “forcible” separations led to “long-term damage” to the mental and physical health of the three migrant fathers involved in the complaint, but what about the harm they’ve done to their own kids by bringing them into the country illegally? Didn’t they put their own kids in harm’s way? How is that the fault and/or responsibility of American taxpayers who will have to foot the bill for any settlement?

The SPLC is doing all it can to not only upend our immigration processes and requirements with this bogus claim, but the rule of law as well.
