Filmmaker Matt Thayer talked about Hollywood and creating patriot films with Tom Renz during the Nov. 30 edition of "Lawfare with Tom Renz" on Brighteon.TV. Thayer also promoted his new documentary series "Reawakening," featuring Clay Clark's Reawaken America tours.

"What everyday Americans can do to make our country better – that's what it's about. We can't just expect our representatives or politicians to take care of us anymore without oversight. We need oversight, and we live in an extraordinary day and age where we can have that kind of oversight," Thayer said.

According to Renz, Thayer served as an example of how regular Americans can stand up for freedom in their own respective ways.

"Matt's a unique guy because everybody always [asks] me 'What can I do? I'm not a lawyer. I'm not a doctor.' Well, Matt's a filmmaker … [and] an artist, and he's made an impact. He's got these awesome films and documentaries. I think he's a great example of what you can do with art," Renz said.

"He took his talents and treasures that God gave him, and decided to do good with them. He decided to do something that's counter to what we're seeing a lot out of Hollywood."

The filmmaker described to Renz and the viewers his new "Reawakening" documentary series.

"I wanted to just kind of give people this experience of waking up, and then kind of wandering through this new environment and getting to know these people and these characters. We bounce in and out of history, science and current events [via] news clips. And then, we go into interviews with people and we get to know them. We just kind of [weaved] this whole story together," Thayer said.

"I'm really fascinated by the people that are a part of this movement. I see them as all as being a part of this big movement that's happening right now. It's just really the country waking up to our founding principles," Thayer said of the personalities he interviewed. He and his team featured Clay Clark, Gen. Michael Flynn and Artur Pawlowski in the documentary.

Big Tech and leftist Hollywood will censor Thayer's work

Thayer told Renz that the episodes of "Reawakening" will be released on a separate platform free of censorship.

"We didn't want to take the chance to try to get it on Netflix, Amazon or any of these streaming platforms. We didn't even think it was worthwhile because we just knew that it would be denied," he said. "We just circumvented the whole thing. We went straight to patriot servers [that] can't be censored, and that's how you can access it."

The filmmaker confirmed to Renz that Hollywood has indeed blacklisted people harboring conservative views. "A lot of people hold beliefs that they just don't share because [they're] not popular. But I know a lot of people who are conservative or Christian who work in the industry. I have [also] worked for years to try and circumvent some of this nonsense and propaganda that's been coming out." Thayer also shared the story of his friend who works for the Walt Disney Company.

"She's what you call a buyer for Disney. They'll send her scripts, sometimes books [that] they're thinking about making a show. She'll read the books and the material, and determine whether or not it's worth doing," Thayer said.

"She's told us stories … of books that she's been handed – that are for young people – [with] disgusting material in them. She has thankfully been in that position as a gatekeeper to help circumvent those things from making it to the screen. But for every one of those, there's probably five or seven that just allow that kind of stuff to come about."

The Disney cartoon program "The Owl House" is one of the many works that still get adopted for television despite its satanic content. It centers on a young girl who aims to become a powerful witch by apprenticing under an elder witch.

In a January 2020 commentary for CBN News, Deborah Bunting denounced the Disney show as attempting to frame witchcraft "as a positive tool to fight evil."

"Over the years, Disney has gone farther and farther into the darkness of the spiritual world that opposes the living God, coming up with programming and characters that lead the vulnerable into that dark world of deception," Bunting wrote. "That's really sad because you see the propaganda, you see this kind of molding and shaping of culture," Thayer said. "It's starting to become [a scenario] where people like myself and [others] who have been in the industry and are very skilled are looking at this and saying, 'We can't do this anymore.'"
