New book explains how the crooked EPA distorts science to fit political goals

A just-released book is a must-read for everyone who has even suspected that the federal government has engaged in political chicanery for the sake of pushing a narrow agenda.

As reported by The Daily Caller, the new book, “Scare Pollution,” documents how the Environmental Protection Agency has been basing its job-and-opportunity-killing air pollution regulations on junk science that is only meant to further the cultish religion of “global warming/climate change,” which is a documented hoax.

The book, by attorney-statistician Steve Milloy, shows readers exactly how the EPA has distorted the so-called science behind air pollution regulations so that politically incorrect industries, like the fossil fuel industry and key manufacturers, can be targeted and shut down or at least severely curbed.

“I have worked on EPA science controversies for 25 years,” said Milloy in an interview with The Daily Caller. “EPA doesn’t use science so much as it abuses it for its political ends.”

The agency survives presidential administrations but is rife with political hack bureaucrats who are Left-wing extremists. When they are mated up with a president like Barack Obama, who shares their very same motivations and ideology, the results can be utterly disastrous for those targeted industries and the American consumer who has to pay more for their products, thanks to the imposition of costly new regulations.

PM2.5 is pseudo-science

In his interview, Milloy referred to EPA regulations that rely on the scientifically unsound and unproven claim that fine particulate matter, or PM2.5, kills humans. But simply by adopting the claim the EPA is allowed to state authoritatively that billions of dollars’ worth of supposed benefits are gained from massively regulating coal plants, factories and our automobiles.

A summary of the book posted at Amazon says:

The U.S Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) claims that outdoor air kills hundreds of thousands of Americans every year. EPA has used this claim to: wreck the coal industry; justify expensive and job-killing air quality and climate rules; and to scare Americans about the air they breathe. Milloy not only debunks the outrageous EPA’s claims and exposes them as rank scientific fraud in no uncertain terms, but offers a roadmap for fixing the rogue and out-of-control EPA.

PM2.5 pseudo-science has been a major impetus behind a slew of expensive regulations that have been leveled against the coal industry especially, including the EPA’s Clean Power Plan. It’s a rule that supposedly is designed to trim carbon dioxide emissions from power plants, but more of the plan’s benefits come from PM2.5 reductions than cuts in CO2.

Milloy, who at one time was employed by coal company Murray Energy and who is now a senior fellow at the Energy & Environmental Legal Institute, said that although his book “focuses on the controversy over” EPA claims regarding particulate matter in outdoor air, “the book represents lessons learned from decades of exposure” to a swath of agency programs.

‘Purchasing’ scientists who then come to predetermined ‘scientific’ conclusions

The author has been active in battling against onerous EPA regulations for decades. Most recently he exposed experiments funded by the agency in which humans were exposed to air pollutants, The Daily Caller reported. In fact, researchers backed by the EPA also conducted the same experiments on children.

Most recently though, Milloy and the institute took an EPA scientific advisory panel to court for allegedly stacking the body with researchers who have collectively received millions of dollars in grants from the agency, an incestuous relationship indeed.

“Government employees and contractors at universities appear to be rubber-stamping EPA’s distorted claims,” the author wrote in the forward of his new book, which has been endorsed by U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe, R-Okla., and former EPA science panel chair Dr. George Wolfe. “This is all happening because of and through the EPA’s patently and demonstrably false claim that PM2.5 kills people.”

In June we reported on the lawsuit, noting that the agency has awarded $190 million in taxpayer funds to essentially buy so-called ‘unbiased’ science experts, via the official-looking process of awarding grants.
