The Democratic Party continues to define itself as an enemy of the American people as it moves to protect illegal immigrants at the risk of endangering citizens.
Late last week, Senate Democrats introduced legislation that would prohibit the federal government from separating children from their illegal immigrant parents when they are caught trying to sneak into the country, The Washington Times reported.
Sponsored by California Sen. Dianne Feinstein, the legislation is the first major bill that seeks to neuter President Donald Trump’s ‘zero tolerance’ policy regarding illegal immigrants — a policy that is essential if he’s to ever get control of our porous southwestern border.
“The United States must not be a country that traumatizes young children by separating them from their parents,” Feinstein said in a statement, without adding that the U.S. should also never be a country to which other nations can export their poverty.
The Times noted further:
The new zero tolerance policy doesn’t require separation of children from parents, but it does push prosecutors to file criminal charges against illegal immigrants who jump the border — ramping up a tactic that had been used relatively less often by previous administrations.
After charges are filed against adult border-jumpers, they are taken to jail while their children are separated from them and handed over to social workers at the federal Department of Health.
The point is to make it extremely painful for anyone who thinks that hauling their children across the border illegally is going to result in special treatment or dispensation. Harsh as it may sound to many, the alternative — letting anyone who can make it remain in the country indefinitely — is far worse.
But now, leave it to Democrats to try to blow holes in the strategy. (Related: Illegal aliens continue to commit child rape in the U.S. because the DC Swamp won’t give Trump the wall.)
Officials from the Department of Homeland Security say the legislation undermines the rule of law.
“We don’t have a policy of separating families. If you commit a crime in this country, the police will take you to jail regardless if you have a family or not,” DHS spokesman Tyler Q. Houlton told The Times. “Illegal aliens should not get preferential treatment because they happen to be illegal aliens.”
If the bill were to ever pass, some analysts say it would essentially end the policy of jailing illegal crossers if they are caught with their children — which would, of course, create a massive loophole and serve to increase the number of adults trying to cross illegally with children (and don’t think for a moment that Feinstein and the other Senate Democrats are not aware of that).
As The Times reported, it should be noted that Obama’s administration — which was far more, shall we say, ‘lax’ in enforcing immigration laws — argued against creating this kind of loophole. That’s because trying to sneak into the U.S. is dangerous and harrowing enough for adults, let alone children. Also, DHS officials know that some migrants and human traffickers will abduct children and then pretend to be families when they reach the U.S. border, according to the Obama administration.
And let’s not forget that recent viral photo of ‘children in cages’ that so triggered the Left. Tweeted by hate-monger Shawn King to attack POTUS Trump, the picture is from 2014, when Obama was in office. Let’s also not forget that migrants themselves are making the decision to cross illegally into the U.S., so whatever happens after that is on them.
Speaking of the Trump administration, officials say they are only interested in prosecuting individuals who are caught attempting to cross illegally into the U.S. They add that if anyone is attempting to seek asylum the right way to do so is to go to an established port of entry.
Democrats, however, don’t care about the rule of law or safety of the American people. They’ve got future voters to cultivate.
