Schumer and Pelosi plead poverty when it comes to funding Trump’s wall but didn’t bat an eye when Obama paid off the Iranians

Politics is a blood sport and politicians are hypocrites and neither of these facts is in dispute.

But sometimes the lying and hypocrisy reach a critical level and must be pointed out for the good of the country. This is one of those times.

Earlier this week, House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., met with POTUS Donald Trump in the Oval Office for a highly anticipated public discussion about funding for the president’s long-sought U.S.-Mexico border wall.

Most seasoned politicos never really believed that anything productive was going to come of those talks given that a) POTUS Trump appears dead-set on getting his funding and b) No Democrat is going to vote to give the president one red cent in border funding because the party of the donkey has become the party of open borders.

And, in fact, the talks devolved into chaotic back-and-forth exchanges between all three participants without anything getting resolved.

But Democrats’ new concerns about the cost of the wall are not just laughable, they are hypocritical on a whole new level.

“To the extent that he could do so at all, it would be reckless and irresponsible to waste national security resources on a border wall that is nothing more than an in-kind contribution to his re-election campaign,” said Rep. Nita Lowey, D-N.Y., said following the Oval Office meeting. “No matter how many years you spread it over, $5 billion for President Trump’s wasteful wall is too much money.”

“Democrats have criticized a full-length version of Trump’s proposed border wall as a waste of money,” noted Politifact in a “fact check” article claiming that Democratic opposition to border security is “false” (no, it’s not — it’s true).

Not surprisingly, many of these newfound Democratic penny pinchers had no problems when their president, Barack Obama, paid the terrorist-supporting Iranian regime billions of dollars as part of the “nuclear deal” that POTUS has since canceled. Paying off Iran was just fine but Democrats are complaining about paying for a wall?

As noted by conservative pundit Tammy Bruce Tuesday night in an interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity, the Obama administration gave Iran “$150 billion” as part of that deal, but somehow they are balking at $5 billion to secure our country from potential terrorist infiltration and deadly drugs.

On Wednesday, the president tweeted about it: “The Democrats and President Obama gave Iran 150 Billion Dollars and got nothing, but they can’t give 5 Billion Dollars for National Security and a Wall?”

Indeed, there is a case to be made for the president’s claims, though Democrats won’t believe it or want to hear it.

First of all, recall that the Obama regime sent the Iranians $1.7 billion in cold, hard cash — on a transport plane in the middle of the night — as a ransom for American hostages Iran was holding. Obama and the Democrat-aligned “mainstream” press said it wasn’t a ransom but when you pay captors cash to get them to release captives, well, that’s ransom.

The administration spun it as a ‘refund’ plus interest on an arms deal that was scrapped following the 1979 Iranian revolution; $400 million plus 25 years’ worth of interest. But of course, Iranian ‘revolutionaries’ captured and held American diplomatic staff hostage for 444 days afterward. And let’s not forget that Iran has long been a state sponsor of terrorism.

There’s more. President Obama lied about how Iran would remain barred from the U.S. banking system as part of the nuclear deal. That gave Tehran access to unknown billions of dollars.

Bottom line: For Democrats to now complain that a $5 billion investment in securing our country is “too much” while giving the Obama White House a pass for enriching a terrorist-sponsoring regime is unacceptable hypocrisy.
