Mainstream media ignores Portland riots despite recent Antifa arrests, attacks against police
By Arsenio Toledo // Oct 14, 2020

As the mainstream media focuses all of their attention on the state of President Donald Trump’s health, Antifa and Black Lives Matter are still rioting in Portland. They ignore the endless demonstrations in the city even though many rioters are being arrested, and Antifa and BLM are committing acts of violence, such as vandalizing property and insulting and attacking police officers.

Byron York of the Washington Examiner argues that the lack of mainstream media coverage on the violence occurring in Portland has to do with the fact that news outlets and Democratic Party leaders alike are no longer able to blame Trump for all of it.

York even mentioned how there were ongoing demonstrations in Seattle and Washington that many large news outlets have neglected to cover in favor of “going wall-to-wall with analyses of every syllable uttered by President Trump’s doctors … Of course, that’s news, but in the meantime, other news – like a continuing plague of violence in those cities and elsewhere – has virtually disappeared from coverage.”

Listen to this episode of the Health Ranger Report, a podcast by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, as he talks about how mainstream media outlets are intentionally making their viewers angry by promoting riots and violence to cause chaos to destroy the United States of America.

Man arrested for assaulting police officer with pepper spray

One incident of violence that York pointed out that mainstream media outlets failed to mention is the attack against a Portland Police Bureau (PPB) officer that occurred on Sunday morning.

According to the PPB, one of their officers was in their marked patrol vehicle doing paperwork in the South Portland neighborhood when, at about 9:40 a.m., a man walked up to the vehicle, shattered one of the car’s glass windows and pepper-sprayed the interior.

The suspect, later identified as John Russell, 41, ran to his car and drove off. Fortunately, the officer was able to broadcast Russell’s description, and he was pulled over and arrested about six blocks away.

The attacked officer recognized Russell’s vehicle as one that had been following him for some time. When PPB officers searched the vehicle, they found several tools and weapons, such as a slingshot, rocks, a laser pointer, several throwing knives, window punch tools, pepper spray and more.

Russell is facing charges of first-degree criminal mischief, aggravated harassment and assaulting a public safety officer. (Related: Four months of rioting: Antifa rioters in Portland send police sergeant to the hospital, douse other officers in chemicals.)

Six arrested after Sunday night riot in Portland

Antifa, Black Lives Matter and their affiliate groups in Portland organized a march on Sunday night. At 9:45 p.m., a large group of demonstrators marched from the Tom McCall Waterfront Park in the Downtown Portland neighborhood to the new Multnomah County Courthouse before moving on to the Central Precinct of the PPB and to City Hall.

To prevent the mob from becoming too violent, a contingent of the PPB was nearby, shadowing their movements and making announcements addressing the crowd through megaphones.

While on the way to the new courthouse, demonstrators spray-painted several buildings, which prompted PPB officers to arrest one person. They also chanted anti-police slogans such as “Quit your job!” to taunt the police officers. Meanwhile, the PPB had to keep telling demonstrators not to block the street to let traffic flow freely.

By the time they made their way to city hall at about 12:30 a.m., most of the rioters had already dispersed. Six demonstrators were arrested, and one person’s car was towed for blocking traffic and driving the wrong way on a one-way street.

Neither the assault on the police officer, the march or the arrests were covered by many mainstream media outlets. According to York, if large news organizations covered the demonstrations more often, it might help put a spotlight on Biden’s claim during the first presidential debate that Antifa is an idea and not an organization.”

“Oh you’ve got to be kidding,” retorted Trump. “When a bat hits you over the head, it’s not an idea. Antifa is a dangerous radical group.”
