Secret Service ready to prove that Jan. 6 protest star witness lied under oath
By Kevin Hughes // Jul 01, 2022

Agents of the United States Secret Service, bound by oath to support the U.S. Constitution and protect the American president, are ready to testify that one of the star witnesses put on the national stage by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's partisan committee investigating the January 6, 2021 protest wasn't telling the truth when she was under oath.

According to a report by Fox News, two Secret Service agents "are prepared to testify before Congress that then-President Donald Trump did not lunge at a steering wheel or assault them in an attempt to go to the Capitol during the Jan. 6 riot."

The Fox News' source completely contradicted the allegations made by Cassidy Hutchinson, who previously worked for then-White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows.

In a closely staged appearance this week that announced her as a surprise witness before Pelosi's committee, she alleged that after Trump spoke at the Ellipse on that day, "he got into the presidential SUV under the impression that he was going to the Capitol, then had a 'very strong, very angry response' when the head of his Secret Service detail, Bobby Engel, said that they were going to the White House," the Fox News report stated.

"The president said something to the effect of, 'I'm the fucking president. Take me up to the Capitol now,'" Hutchinson alleged.

Hutchinson admitted she wasn't there and didn't hear or see anything, but she stated she was informed about the events later that day by a White House aide named Tony Ornato. There was no clarification from the Democrat-controlled committee why the gossip comments were shown.

"The president reached up towards the front of the vehicle to grab at the steering wheel. Mr. Engel grabbed his arm and said, 'Sir, you need to take your hand off the steering wheel. We're going back to the West Wing. We're not going to the Capitol,'" Hutchinson alleged.

Analysts noted that the basic structure of the presidential limousine, where the president sits in the back at a certain distance from the driver, makes that scenario improbable.

Secret Service agents ready to testify before Congress about limo incident

Fox News reported the agents are ready to tell Congress those events didn't take place.

"[Bobby] Engel [the head of Trump's Secret Service detail] and the SUV driver, an unnamed Secret Service agent, are prepared to testify before the Jan. 6 committee that the president did not lunge at the steering wheel. The Jan. 6 committee and the Secret Service are in discussions about whether one or both men will appear on camera," Fox News said in a report.

A Just the News report verified the Secret Service statement. "The United States Secret Service has been cooperating with the Select Committee since its inception in spring 2021, and will continue to do so, including by responding on the record to the Committee regarding the new allegations surfaced in today's testimony," the report stated.

Pelosi has made use of holding public "hearings" for her committee, which is partisan for the reason that she refused to seat members of the GOP nominated by the minority party when the committee was made. The GOP then refused to cooperate, and finally Pelosi recruited two GOP members who have shown mostly "never-Trump" attitudes and actions. (Related: Literally political theater: Pelosi's hand-picked J6 Committee hired TV exec to produce "prime-time" hearings)

As the information highlighted by the committee, which is particularly in the anti-Trump category, has failed to create enough interest among many Americans, Pelosi determined to have the committee conduct some "hearings" that would be televised with specially organized testimony that seems designed to put all the blame for the protest on Trump.

It was in a "last-minute hearing" held on Tuesday, June 28, that Hutchinson gave her testimony.

"CBS News reports that sources close to the Secret Service have confirmed that Engel and the vehicle's driver are prepared to testify under oath that neither man was physically assaulted by Trump, nor did the former president ever lunge for the steering wheel," the Fox News report stated.

The Fox News report added that both Ornato and Engel have already appeared before the panel, but their testimonies were not announced by the partisan group.
