In July 1972, as the Nixon administration was winding down America’s involvement in the Vietnam War, compliments of a Democratic president, Lyndon B. Johnson, Left-wing entertainment darling Jane Fonda took a little trip to North Vietnam, where she had her picture taken mingling with enemy troops as she sat, helmeted, on an anti-aircraft gun.
The trip, which gave the North Vietnamese a huge propaganda victory and earned Fonda the derisive nickname “Hanoi Jane,” was forever seared into the minds of hundreds of thousands of Vietnam vets who would never forgive or forget that blatant act of treason.
Of course, in America’s rising Leftist political and entertainment circles, Hanoi Jane was a heroine; giving America the middle finger even as her sons and daughters fought and died by the tens of thousands in a war they had no choice but to fight was all the rage in the late 1960s and early 1970s.
It took the “America first” presidency of Ronald Reagan to reverse that sentiment, and it paid dividends in the Bush era as American servicemen and women once again were dispatched to remote corners of the world to fight against an unconventional enemy who attacked us.
But today, it has once again become fashionable for Left-wing idiots and communist sympathizers to flip off America or, in the case of far too many NFL players, show open disrespect to the flag and those who fight for and guarantee them the freedom to be unappreciative ingrates while simultaneously earning king’s ransoms for playing a game.
The Alt-Left “mainstream” media is in on the act too, as evidenced this week by NBC News and its evening anchor, Lester Holt. (Related: “Deep State” DoJ, FBI, won’t answer Congress’ questions but will LEAK to the traitorous “mainstream” media.)
As part of his beginning coverage of the Winter Olympics, which are scheduled to begin in South Korea next month, Holt decided it would be a great idea to accept the North Korean government’s invitation to essentially drop in and lend his assistance in creating a massive piece of propaganda.
From the Nasikryong ski resort at the foot of Mount Taechwa, Holt and crew broadcast this feel-good message: “We have been treated with respect here.”
Holt and crew even agreed to allow the North Korean government to provide a backdrop of (similarly dressed) ‘average’ North Koreans enjoying themselves on the slopes.
For the record, as the Daily Mail reported last year, the luxury resort was built by the North Koreans as a counter to Pyeongchang in South Korea, where the Winter Olympics will be held. The brainchild of brutal leader Kim Jong-un, the resort is empty most of the year because, well, most North Koreans are too malnourished to ski in the first place. But beyond that, Kim’s idea was to build a resort for international tourists (like anyone in their right mind would want to go there). Nick Bonner, director of specialist North Korea travel agency Koryo Tours, which offers it among its destinations, said of the resort, “It’s not busy. It’s never been busy.”
And let’s never forget what a brutal piece of work Kim really is: He kills his political enemies or anyone who ‘crosses’ him or whom he believes might cross him — including uncles and brothers — using wild dogs and anti-aircraft guns.
Kim’s regime also tortured University of Virginia honors student Otto F. Wambier to death, essentially, after sentencing him to 15 years hard labor for “stealing” a propaganda poster. He was released just barely alive in June 2017 after 17 months in prison; American health officials believe he had been in a coma since April 2016.
But apparently, none of this bothers Holt — whose network, by the way, was pilloried over his broadcast (and rightfully so).
Let’s not kid ourselves here. Lester Holt is no idiot, so it’s not appropriate to say he was just “too stupid” to understand that he was being used as a propaganda tool by a brutal regime hell-bent on building nuclear weapons to threaten Americans.
He knew exactly what he was doing, yet he did it anyway. Just like Hanoi Jane 45 years ago.
The commie-loving American Left hates their own country. That much should be obvious by now. The real question they should be made to answer is why.
