What passes for humor on the deranged Left most rational people would define as “hate.” But these days, hate isn’t really ‘hate’ unless or until the radical Left says it is, and even then, it’s most likely not hate, just a difference of opinion.
Not only that, but as we’re seeing more and more often, there are two standards for dealing with so-called hate: Irrationally or not at all, depending on the speaker.
The Leftist-dominated American entertainment industry is particularly prone to this two-tier punishment system.
On the one side, conservatives can’t even make factual, scientific observations about certain subjects such as homosexuality, and/or transgenderism, Islamic terrorism, POTUS Donald Trump, Christianity, abortion, or, of course, immigrants/migrants.
On the other side, Leftists can say whatever they want about conservatives, the president, and his supporters — even up to the advocation of murder — and get away with it. They won’t be chastised by the media, other entertainment types, or otherwise punished by the authoritarian speech Nazis who run the world’s biggest social media platforms.
Case in point: On Friday, author Fran Lebowitz, a regular and vociferous critic of all things Republican and, in particular, POTUS Trump, thought it would be funny to say something like the president of the United States should be killed via dismemberment.
As reported by Breitbart News, Lebowitz made an appearance on HBO’s “Real Time with Bill Maher,” so two sycophantic Leftists could have a conversation about how terrible Republicans are and how POTUS Trump signals the end of humanity…or something like that.
Noting that “impeachment would be just the beginning of what he deserves,” Lebowitz then said the president should be turned over to “the same Saudis who got rid of that reporter,” Jamal Khashoggi, “maybe they could do the same for him.”
In case you hadn’t heard, rumor has it that a team of Saudi Arabian operatives was ostensibly sent by the government in Riyadh to kill and then dismember him inside a Saudi embassy in Turkey. The Saudi government has been less than forthcoming regarding the incident, though it arrested 18 citizens in connection with the suspected murder. (Related: Public banned from seeing school shooting case involving transgender anti-Trump culprit.)
So, consequently, Lebowitz was saying, exactly, that she thinks it would be appropriate for Trump to be treated the same way. Unbelievable.
If you can’t imagine anyone being able to say something like that about former President Barack Obama, you’d be spot-on. Remember when a rodeo clown in Missouri was banned for life after appearing in an Obama mask as the announcer asked if anyone in the crowd wanted to see “Obama run down by a bull”?
My, how far we’ve come. Or how far we’ve slipped further into an abyss for which our society cannot recover.
Lebowitz eventually apologized for her remark, but it was lame to say the least and, we believe, not at all heartfelt.
During Maher’s “Overtime” segment, Lebowitz said, “I didn’t realize that I said it. … I regret saying it.”
She added, “I did not mean that, and I regret saying it. I regret that everyone misinterpreted it…they misinterpret everything. Why should they stop with me?”
Right. Simple misunderstanding.
Not only will Lebowitz get away with this outrage, she’s going to be celebrated by other Left-wing haters and kooks who will either praise her openly or praise her covertly by continuing to invite her onto other shows, other venues. And HBO isn’t going to be punished by the speech Nazis at Twitter and Facebook, either — bet on it.
Because when the Left is outrageous and the target is a conservative or our president, there’s nothing to see here. But let a “right-wing extremist” say something like ‘transgender therapy could actually be harming our children,’ and watch all hell break loose.
