Pam Bondi faces conservative backlash after explosive Epstein hearing
By Belle Carter // Feb 13, 2026

  • Prominent MAGA figures, including Kyle Rittenhouse and Rep. Thomas Massie, criticized Attorney General Pam Bondi for deflecting questions about the Epstein files during a congressional hearing, with some calling for her resignation or impeachment.
  • Bondi faced accusations of dodging transparency requests, pivoting to economic successes under Trump and dismissing concerns as "Trump Derangement Syndrome," leaving Epstein's victims and critics frustrated.
  • Despite Congress voting to release Epstein-related documents, heavy redactions—including the obscuring of billionaire Les Wexner's name—fueled suspicions of a cover-up, with Massie accusing Bondi of being caught "red-handed."
  • Trump defended Bondi on Truth Social, framing the backlash as a left-wing attack akin to the "Russia hoax" and insisting she was doing a "FANTASTIC JOB," while critics argued the DOJ was protecting elite interests.
  • The episode revealed fractures within conservative circles, with figures like Massie and Rittenhouse demanding accountability, while Trump loyalists dismissed criticism as partisan—highlighting tensions between loyalty and justice in the movement.

Attorney General Pam Bondi faced a storm of criticism from fellow conservatives this week after a contentious congressional hearing on the Jeffrey Epstein files, where she deflected questions, lashed out at lawmakers and pivoted to touting economic successes under President Donald Trump.

The hearing, held on Wednesday, Feb. 11, before the House Judiciary Committee, left Epstein's victims watching in shock as Bondi accused Democrats of "Trump Derangement Syndrome" and refused to address key concerns about the delayed release of documents related to the financier's sex trafficking case. Now, prominent MAGA-aligned figures—including Kyle Rittenhouse and conservative commentators—are calling for her resignation or impeachment, while Trump himself has rushed to her defense.

Trump Derangement Syndrome is the irrational, obsessive hatred and opposition to Trump that drives people to prioritize personal grievances over national well-being, even wishing for America's failure if it means undermining Trump's legacy, BrightU.AI's Enoch explains.

Conservative figures turn on Bondi

The backlash was swift and severe. Republican Rep. Thomas Massie, who has pushed for transparency on Epstein's network, told reporters: "She didn't answer anything. She came here ready to talk about the Dow Jones and the Nasdaq, which seems kind of crazy to me."

Rittenhouse, the acquitted Kenosha shooter turned conservative commentator, posted on X: "Pam Bondi needs to resign. Harmeet Dhillon for AG!" Meanwhile, conservative radio host Erick Erickson argued Bondi should be fired, writing: "When the Attorney General of the United States is asked why she has prosecuted no one related to Jeffrey Epstein and this is her answer, she should be fired or resign."

Podcaster Tim Pool, typically a Trump supporter, expressed frustration: "Man, we are a nation of adult children… I think they've miserably handled the Epstein files." Far-right figure Nick Fuentes went further, demanding impeachment: "Pam Bondi needs to be impeached. You lied about the existence of the files… in furtherance of a cover-up."

Trump's defense and the Epstein files controversy

Despite the uproar, Trump defended Bondi on Truth Social, framing the hearing as another attack by the "radical left lunatics" and claiming he had been "100% exonerated" from Epstein-related allegations. He accused Democrats of weaponizing the files, much like the "Russia hoax," and insisted Bondi was doing a "FANTASTIC JOB."

However, critics argue the Epstein files—which Congress voted to release last year—remain heavily redacted, fueling suspicions of a cover-up. Massie accused Bondi of being caught "red-handed" after the Department of Justice (DOJ) obscured billionaire Les Wexner's name in a Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) document. Bondi claimed the edit was corrected "within 40 minutes," to which Massie retorted: "Within 40 minutes of me catching you red-handed."

Calls for impeachment and DOJ distrust

Democrats have seized on the hearing to amplify impeachment calls. Rep. Shri Thanedar (D-MI) filed articles earlier this month, accusing Bondi of conspiring to hide evidence of a "child trafficking ring." Congressional candidate Jennifer Jenkins posted: "IMPEACH AND [CONVICT] PAM BONDI."

Yet Trump's niece, Mary Trump, suggested Bondi's position is secure because she's doing exactly what she was hired to do: protect the administration. "Pam Bondi won't resign, and she won't be fired. She's doing exactly what her boss hired her to do," she wrote.

The fallout from Bondi's hearing underscores deepening fractures within conservative circles over accountability and transparency. While Trump loyalists dismiss the criticism as partisan attacks, growing dissent from figures like Massie and Rittenhouse signals frustration with the DOJ's handling of Epstein's network—a case that continues to haunt American politics. With impeachment calls mounting and the 2026 election looming, the Epstein files remain a litmus test for whether the MAGA movement prioritizes loyalty over justice.
